Extracted from CEE Waterloo

EMAGIN is Canada’s first artificial intelligence company for the water sector, and co-founded and jointly run by CEE and other UW students.

Their solution leverages artificial intelligence to generate smarter operational decisions in real time enabling Municipal water utilities to proactively control and optimize their operations to save on energy, water and operational costs, while minimizing risk.

Imagine a city that can detect a storm or drought before it happens and proactively prepares its water treatment and supply systems accordingly. That’s what we dream to achieve.

Emagin has been announced as one of only 10 finalists in the Velocity Fund Finals. Held three times a year, the Velocity Fund provides $375,000 in equity-free funding to startups to help remove some of the barriers to building a startup. Numerous applications for the $25K competition were submitted by University of Waterloo students and recent alumni, and finalists were selected after an intensive interview that assessed problem, solution, market, traction, and team fit.

On Thursday, July 21st, ten teams will pitch their startup to compete for one of four $25,000 prizes, plus a $10,000 hardware prize, during the $25K event of the Velocity Fund Finals, Waterloo’s premiere pitch competition.

Each participant at the Velocity Fund Finals will have 3 minutes to pitch their solution to a real-world problem to a panel of judges from the local investor community and a packed audience of their peers in the Great Hall, Student Life Centre (SLC) at the University of Waterloo.
